DENISE CRITTENDON, FOUNDER OF ESTEEM MULTIMEDIA HAS BEEN WRITING AND EDITING PROFESSIONALLY FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS. From 1976 to 1978 she wrote articles for the Michigan Chronicle. For the next 15 years, her feature and news stories appeared in the Detroit News where she worked as a staff writer from 1978 to 1993. During her stint at the Detroit News, the veteran journalist won several awards, including Best of Gannett, The AP Award and Unity Awards in Media.
In 1994, Ms. Crittendon became the first woman in the history of the NAACP to be appointed editor of its national magazine The Crisis, founded in 1910 by W.E. B. Dubois. She later wrote and served as assistant Teen Page editor for the Kansas City Star, a metropolitan daily newspaper in Kansas City, Missouri.
In 1978, she was hired by Metro Parent Publishing to create, launch and edit African American Family Magazine. She worked there as editor for nine years, amassing nearly a dozen writing awards. Her popular editor’s letters -- which were highly regarded for their creativity, clarity, sensitivity and a warmth that came straight from her heart -- won several gold awards from Parenting Publications of America and an 2006 award from the Detroit Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).
Currently, Ms. Crittendon writes speeches and press releases, conducts writing workshops and serves as a writing coach for individuals, non-profits, corporations and fortune 500 companies. Her company, Esteem Multi Media, offers a range of editing and publishing services for documents, books and other written materials.

EDITING SERVICES -- PRICES RANGE FROM $1,500 TO $4,000 for editing, depending on services needed

Book Editing
Regular Editing
Correction of grammar, spelling, punctuation, transitions, word phrasing, and improvement in the clarity of the text.
Research Editing
Regular Editing plus formatting of citations, references and footnotes according to your requested style guide / manual (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc).
Comprehensive Editing
Both Regular and Content Editing (sentence re-writes when necessary) plus significant re-writes of up to 25 percent of the entire document when necessary. A professional editorial consultation will be included. All changes are outlined in Microsoft’s Track Changes so that clients can approve the suggested alterations.
Reduction Editing
A reduction of the document's total word count. Excess language is deleted and/or modified. Passages are truncated to ensure vital information is not eliminated. All changes are outlined in Microsoft's Track Changes so that clients can approve the suggested alterations.
Basic Proofreading
Proofreading includes checking for typos, spelling errors, grammar, punctuation, subject-verb agreement and adherence to Associated Press (AP) style. |
